Training Opportunities
Our Qualified Instructors We are fortunate to have a pool of qualified instructors, including National Instructors, who generously give their time to help train others in the club. As a result, we can offer courses that are part of the BSAC Diver Training Programme. This includes training for those who have previously trained with other agencies, as well as specific skills development courses for members advancing their skills.
Annual Club Day Early in the year, to help prepare for the diving season, we run a vibrant Club Day, which features various speakers and workshops.
Diver Training Program Diver Grades
Ocean Diver BSAC’s entry-level Ocean Diver courses are delivered within the branch at least once a year. See the Learn to Dive link for more information. In 2020, we enrolled four new divers into our Ocean Diver course, all of whom safely completed their training despite the challenges posed by Covid.
Sports Diver Courses Sports Diver courses are usually run at least once a year, and we may offer bespoke programmes for individuals. Most of the open water skills can be addressed through regular club diving. More information about the course is available using this Sports Diver link.
Dive Leader Courses Dive Leader courses are run on demand, and we may also offer bespoke programmes for individuals. Last year, some of the lectures were provided by the Regional Coach. Advanced Diver Courses Advanced Diver courses are usually more bespoke and offered on demand. Last year, some lectures were provided by the Regional Coach. Cross Over Courses If you join us having trained with another agency, such as PADI, you can continue your training with us. This may require some induction/crossover into BSAC, allowing you to continue your training from an equivalent level as a BSAC member. Further information on BSAC Diver Grade equivalents is available.
Skills Development Courses Our instructors run various Skills Development courses within the club, which are open to members. Recently, we have run the following BSAC courses: Oxygen Administration, Boat Handling, Automated External Defibrillator, Mixed Gas Blending, and Nitrox workshop.

We offer additional training opportunities to support club diving, including the use of our compressor, towing the club boat, and refreshers in Basic Life Support skills. Please enquire for the exact costs, as they may have changed due to inflation.
